Updates

8:00pm It ends up 4-0 to South at Darcy street whilst in the North a Michael Holden hat trick has fired Devonport to a big 6-0 win.

6:49pm Half Time: South Hobart 2-0 Kingborough 6:46pm South largely d0ing as they want as we reach half time, they’ve made all the running in the game and if Sculthorpe had been as clinical as last week, he could have had a hat-trick. It’s typical South really, controlling it from midfield and playing in their overlapping full backs. The Lions have scrapped and fought but South are winning it back from them too easily and Danny Cowen is getting no service. My phone battery is about to cark it, so will update final scores when I get a chance but if the blog goes quiet, that is why, my apologies.

6:45pm- A scare here for South with Kobe Kemp down on the ground, grabbing his knee and looking in pain. He thankfully got up and walked off but you’d imagine he goes into cotton wool after that.

No word from my informer at Valley Road, I suspect the game being called off in the middle means he might have wandered home, will try get you a score from there asap.

6:25pm- South Hobart 2-0 Kingborough. Saracino with a tap in, a really poor clearance from deep in defence went straight to him in the middle of the box and he makes no mistake.

6:20pm- Kobe Kemp absolutely running the show at the moment, the Lions can’t get near him and he is carving them apart. Just forged a great chance for Sculthorpe that drew a sharp save from Stalker.

6:17pm Goal 1-0, South Hobart. A free kick, won just outside the box, leads to the ball falling at the feet of Saracino, who drives from the top of the box perfectly into the far corner. One minute later he hits the post, could have had a brace! South as expected, bossing this contest thus far.

6:00pm- The final two games of the day kicking off now as South Hobart take on Kingborough and a very wet Darcy Street and Devonport host Ulverstone at Valley Road.

5:33pm Olympia 4-2 Zebras

And in the final moments Undy races in and dinks it over the keeper before sliding it home to secure the win. Full Time.

5:28pm Olympia 3-2 Zebras Olympia reclaim the lead through Turner who is left with a tap in after Nkoso opted not to shoot but cross instead. Zebras are fuming as the ball appeared out in the lead up but the Warriors play the whistle and combined delightfully.

5:18pm Hobart Zebras 2-2 Olympia

A nice flowing moves sees Burt play in Sklenar who weights a pass perfectly to give Sanders a tap in.

5:03pm A tremendous double save by French, two huge kick saves keeping his sides head above water as Olympia ratchet up the pressure.

4:50pm Olympia 2-1 Zebras. Some indecision from French not coming off his line allows Undy in behind to stroke home a gimme.

4:50 Full Time: Hobart Zebras 4-1 South Hobart

4:30pm Half Time: Hobart Zebras 1-1 Olympia

An entertaining half of football, both sides are looking pretty good.

4:05pm- Hobart Zebras 1-1 Olympia

Mckeown beats the offside trap, races in behind, rounds the keeper and levels it up.

4:00pm- A strong start from the Warriors who are doing all the attacking, Luke Huigsloot at centre back once again today and he and the back 3 are being put under enormous pressure from the likes of Nkoso, Wadawu and Undy.

3:50pm- Olympia 1-0 Hobart Zebras. Wadawu is given wayyyyyyyyy too much room and he takes full advantage charging into the box and smashing it home. Sklenar had a chance to put his new side up moments earlier but couldn’t direct his stretching effort.

3:45pm- Full Time: Launceston City 1-1 Northern Rangers No change in the score in the second half and the Launceston sides will share the spoils to begin their campaigns.

3:455 Half Time  Hobart Zebras 3-1 South Hobart

Mady O’Brien from distance makes it 2-1. They are really making these long range efforts count with the wind at their backs. Another follows soon after and despite a close match its Zebras well on top on the scoreboard

3:27pm Hobart Zebras 1-1 South Hobart

An incisive counter leads to a leveller and it’s hardly undeserved, South have really put up a fight in this first half.

3:22pm Hobart Zebras 1-0 South Hobart And it hasn’t taken Johnson long to leave her mark, unleashing a howitzer from 25 yards out that bullets into the back of the net.

3:05 Nearly a perfect start for Zebras marquee signing Lucy Johnson as she combines nicely with Kannegiesser before blazing wide. She appears set to lead the line as the #9 and was the biggest of any sides off season acquisitions.

3:00pm- Kick off at Olinda Grove as the defending champion Zebras take on the newest WSL side, South Hobart.

2:48pm Word coming through that Northern Rangers have just levelled the game at 1-1 before half time. And Half Time has now been blown.

2:46pm: Full Time: University 0-3 Clarence

A fully deserved win for Clarence, they dominated in midfield and from there they controlled the game. University had some promising flashes via Young on the counter but on the whole a pretty one sided affair.

2:20pm University 0-3 Clarence Somehow the ball sneaks in past two defenders at the near post, multiple deflections and it pops top window.

2:15pm- GOAL! 1-0 Launceston City, JJarrod Linger has City ahead after 10 minutes of play.

2:00pm- Underway at Valley Road as rivals Launceston City and Northern Rangers prepare to clash.

1:45pm- University 0-2 Clarence

Clarence 2 goals to the good and well worth their lead as they have completely controlled the contest. An early goal that floated over the keepers head and a late Downham strike shortly before half time as the Students were caught flat footed at the back mean this game well in Clarence’s keeping. The game has been played almost exclusively in their attacking half, though the extremely windy weather has made stringing passes together tough for both sides.

1:00pm- University and Clarence are about to kick off.

12:45 Full Time. Taroona 1-4 Olympia

12:35 Olympia 4-1 Taroona And there it is, the Taroona defence is gassed and Bonnie Davies takes full advantage by leaving them in her wake as she storms past two and blasts home a stunning solo goal.

12:30pm- Izzy Ottavi is coming up huge at the moment, making 3 saves in 3 minutes. Her best of them rushing out to deny a Chambers 1v1 in the box. Taroona under siege but Olympia can’t quite land the final ko blow yet.

12:05pm- Taroona 1-3 Olympia, Into the second half and the Warriors have made it 3-1 through Jade Williams. Wind at their backs in the second half too, so they are firmly in the box seat.

11:45am- It’s been interesting to see Eliza Cropp running around for Taroona on her old home patch. She is one of the most talented attacking players in the competition so it’s a massive loss for the Students, but she’s exactly the type of player Taroona were lacking last season, good pick up.

11:40am- Taroona 1-2 Olympia, The Warriors square it up just before half time and then minutes later, in the shadows of half time they go one better and take the lead. They had been the more likely side throughout the half, so can’t say it’s undeserved, though Taroona will be furious with themselves for switching off late.

11:25am- Taroona 1-0 Olympia, The first goal of the Pre-season goes the way of the Pirates who take the lead 20 minutes into the game through Tolman.

11:05am: We are underway at Olinda Grove with Taroona taking on Olympia. The Warriors of course won’t be in the Super League this year, so expect them to come out firing in these cup competitions.

10:35am: Up North and Riverside Olympic have forfeited their game against Launceston United, leaving just the two games at Valley Road.

10:15am: If you haven’t already, check out the NPL Check in, to get up to speed with where the NPL Club’s are at ahead of their first games today.
