Clarence United v Ulverstone

If Clarence are to kick start their season when they play host to Ulverstone then they are going to need to start hitting the back of the net. Two goals in four Summer Cup games and none through two weeks in the Super League highlights where it has gone wrong for them so far. Replacing Allie Berry was always going to be a tough proposition and it’s fair to say it’s something they haven’t quite figured out yet. They have a solid defence and a top goalkeeper so they aren’t going to need to score copious amounts to win games, but they need a lift from their attackers in this one. Isobel Kearney and Abbey Johnston have shown flashes and Caitlyn Maundrill looked extremely lively off the bench last week, so they loom as the most likely candidates to help ignite Clarence’s goal scoring. Ulverstone got their lift from Milly Consalvo last week as she hit a fine hat-trick and the Ulverstone winger will once again be a player her side looks to help carry the goal scoring load. Phoebe Djakic had a frustrating game against the Lions but remains a classy player who is another the visitors will lean on in their bid to make it back to back wins. They will want to avoid a slow start like last week however as Clarence are a very tough side to break down, and ceding an early lead to them would make life difficult for them.
