Full Time: Clarence 0-5 Devonport

So full time and an emphatic win for the Strikers. They dominated the second half and are well worth the three points today. Clarence had no answers to them in the second half.

87′ GOAL! 5-0! A cross finds Mckenna, he centres for Millington who smashes a first time volley into the back of the net.

85′ Shot off! Bidwell has a pop from range but its well over the bar.

SUB- Chris The King Mckenna is on, Andrews replaced.

82′ Shot on! Zaikos with a misplaced pass, Robb tries to punish him from range but Zaikos gets back to stop it.

80′ Shot off! Fischer with a great ball through from the top of the box to Mann who runs onto it and smashes it just wide.

76′ GOAL! 4-0! Holden again tears off down the left, beats a defender and drives it into the post, the rebound falls right back into his path and he taps home.

48′ GOAL! 1-0! Millington with a header from a Holden corner, was afforded far too much space and he nods home.

46′ Second half underway, can either side conjure the break through goal? Sub- Wicks has been replaced by Millington

HALF TIME: Clarence 0-0 Devonport.

So at half time it’s scoreless. Clarence started the brighter of the two sides but as it wore on the Strikers began to assert themselves on the contest and create a few more chances. Has been a good physical game that has ebbed and flowed from end to end though and both teams are firmly in the contest.

44′ Fischer-Mann combination does well to get it to Wicks who fires a tame shot at Randall.

42′ Wicks crosses for Fischer who rises high and heads it just wide. Made good contact.

41′ Naden cuts inside on the left and fires a shot but a comfortable save is made.

40′ Shot off! Mann given too much time and space, he drives a shot from 25 yards with power but it’s just wide.

35′ Mann takes down the ball with a silky touch and shot on the volley, but its straight at Randall.

34′ Stuart with a fine run, has been quality so far, beats a defender and cuts inside. His shot is straight at Zaikos though

32′ Holden makes a surging run down the left and crosses for Wicks, his shot is blocked behind for a corner

27′ A couple of blocks from the Devonport defence and the ball lands into the path of Palmer who pulls his shot wide.

25′ Shot off! Wicks gets played through but smashes it over the bar.

Since the early chances nothing really has happened in terms of chances. Been a real midfield grind and both defences firmly on top.

5′ Wicks crosses for Fischer whose shot is well blocked by a sliding Heath.

3′ Save! Zaikos makes a stunning one handed save to deny a strong header.

1′ Kick off, We’re Underway

Round 7 begins at the Dune-geon as the red hot Devonport Strikers travel down to take on Clarence United. Devonport were simply superb last week, implementing a brilliant counter attacking game plan that was based around a rock solid defence and utilising their pacey attackers to do damage on the break. Clarence’s defence can be a tad slow so they will need to be careful not to allow too much space in behind or they will suffer a similar fate to South Hobart. Physically they are very strong and aerially they are fairly dominant but that has not been the approach that the Strikers have taken this season with their new look side. Clarence have taken strides this year but will still be keen to claim a big scalp to demonstrate that. At home against a young Strikers side, the Reds will be looking to do just that but as the Strikers showed last week, despite the relative youth of the side, they must be considered among the very best sides in the league.
