Full time! More to come in the match report.

87′ Goal! Reynolds whips in the corner and Mann is the man to head Devonport out for what I’d say would be the win!

86′ Holden is on the end of a one, two and he flashes his shot just wide!

80′ Save! Mann with a free kick 22 yards out it looks to be heading top corner but Clarke makes the flying save! He’s been outstanding today for City! The resulting corner ends up bobbling to Mann (I think) and he hits the post!

13 to go and it’s still nil all! City defending resolutely with a 5-4-1 with Clarke covering his goals well and Egan, Gould and Mahony making it difficult for Devonport to make space.

76′ Campbell plays a short free kick on the right to Rossetto who fizzes it in to the mixer it bobbles around and Mies stretches and manges to get a toe on it but Zaikos has it covered!

74′ Egan tries to play a bit too cute on the right side of the field and Mckenna nips in and crosses to Mann around the penalty area who tries the scissor kick but it’s high over the bar!

70′ Holden whips in a dangerous corner, Mckenna rises at the back stick but just can’t connect.

68′ Mann crosses deep to Fischer who nods down to Mckenna his volley is a tame one and Clarke saves easily!

65′ Slice of Cheese Williams shows Dance a clean set of heels, Dance tries to make the tackle from behind no ball and receives some cheese!

Sub for City Sub off – Degetto, On – Mies

62′ Fisher takes a touch around his defender and strikes looking for the far post but it’s just wide!

59′ Post! Mahony misreads the long ball and Mckenna flicks on, Fisher wrestles Gould out of the way and is through on goal rounds Clarke but his touch is heavy and leads him to a tight angle and hits the crossbar!

53′ Kelly misses his clearance on the back post and Mann is there but he skies his effort. Fisher then rounds Clarke but Gould clears off the line. Devonport Corner! It’s a bombardment right now from Port!

52′ Save & Save Mann strikes but Clarke saves it well and concedes the corner! The corner bobbles around and falls to Fischer from point black range and Clarke is on the right spot and gathers!

51′ Mahony chops down Mann as he turns on the edge of the box and free kick awarded can Mann score?

50′ A scrappy clearance for City falls to Holden on a tight angle but his left foot effort is off target and into the side netting

46′ Mckenna straight into the thick of things. Fischer plays the veteran forward through he’s outside the box with time to strike on his left but he uncharacteristically skies it well high and well wide!

Devonport looks to have made their sub at half time

Sub off – Wicks, Sub on – Mckenna

We’re back underway!

Team Lineups

Devonport Strikers – Zaikos, Smith, Dance, Reynolds, Dance, Andrews, Bidwell, Mann, Wicks, Holden, Fischer

Subs – Pearce, Mckenna, Knott, Lord

Launceston City – Clarke, Mahony, Egan, Rossetto, Gould, Kelly, Campbell, Williams, Linger, Degetto, Bartlett

Subs – Frost, Mies, Thorne, Dorazio

Half Time! Devonport Strikers 0 – Launceston City 0

Well! I’m absolutely astounded! A high ball on the right wing is played over the top Rhys Gould misjudges it and Eddie Bidwell is through heading towards the byline. Kyle Kelly tracks back and no where near the ball chops Bidwell down! Receives a Slice of Cheese for his tackle, no attempt to play the ball so I’m amazed how it wasn’t a red given that Devonport were in with a good chance on goal.

(Apologies I need a team sheet also a match clock) Holden plays through Harrison Wicks and he’s in space just on the edge of the 18 yard box but he skies it over!

Baffling stuff here, Millington looked to be coming on the field for Devonport’s Harrison Wicks, Millington ran onto the park but got called back and the substitution was reversed. Millington back off he wasn’t on the teamsheet!

Approaching half time here and for my 10 minutes of viewing it’s been a quite even affair. Lachlan Clarke in the City goal has come off his line to clear the danger on a few occasions to clear the danger and Brayden Mann has been closed down early. Mann also seems to have dropped into central midfield with Tyler Fischer playing the sole man up front.

Sorry guys we’re live here 35 minutes into this clash and we’re locked at 0-0!

Up at Valley Road the Devonport Strikers entertain Launceston City, with South Hobart and Olympia clashing, this could potentially be a chance for the defending champions to reclaim top spot on the table should that result be anything other than a Warriors victory. Given the rich vein of form they are in they will be expected to do just that having won their past five games and outscored their opponents 15-1 over the past three weeks. The continuity in the starting line up is certainly helping them and they are going from strength to strength. After a slightly sluggish start to the season, Michael Holden is now one of, if not the form player of the league right now and along with Mann and Fischer they represent a nightmare match up for defenders.

City enter the contest once more in the all to familiar position of having to pick themselves up off the canvas. A 5-0 loss to Zebras and 6-0 thumping to Knights in the Lakoseljac Cup Semi Final was not what they were looking for after they seemed to have turned a corner with consecutive wins over South Hobart and Clarence. The past 2 weeks have been tough to swallow and with their cup dreams now extinguished they must turn their attention to climbing off the floor of the league table though it will be tough to take anything away from the Portress.
