 Shots Off

Full Time Devonport 0-3 Olympia (Conway 9′ Undy 47′ 54′)

90′ Sub- Callan replaces Hill who has looked a bit proppy for the past 20 minutes.

87′ Shot off! Mearns strikes one just past the post from outside the box.

86′ Shot off! Mann volleys over the bar from a Reynolds cross, was under pressure from Stevens.

85′ From the resulting Corner there is a mad goal line scramble, Cole eventually gets ahold of it, and gets given a free kick with a host of Strikers player hacking away at it.

84′ Hill heads behind another fantastic Bidwell cross.

80′ Shot off! Hoy sends his free kick over the wall but wide of the post.

75′ Sub- Cartwright replaced by Bellini.

75′ Sklenar with a sublime piece of skill in the box, turned his defender and fired just wide but the way he created the space for himself and beat the defender was pure class.

74′ Save! Double save! Fischer can’t believe he hasn’t scored, from the middle of the box he fires one which Cole made a sublime reflex leg save before getting up and covering his far post for a shot that came in seconds later.

No sign of a second half fightback from Devonport, it’s been all one way traffic this half as Olympia have controlled the contest. They are in the mood now, playing some wonderful football and sending out a warning message to the whole league

71′ Hoy threaded through by Sklenar and he surges into the box, opted to pass rather than shoot though and the attack breaks down.

69′ Shot on! Sklenar comes close again! This time he flicks on a Hoy free kick but Zaikois saves well. Hoy’s set pieces since coming on have been absolute dynamite.

65′ Hoy’s corner is headed onto the post by Sklenar.

64′ Sklenar smashes a volley that looked goal bound but Dom Smith is there to make a headed block.

62′ Superb cross from Bidwell just eludes the head of a leaping Mann.

60′! Cleared off the line! Jesse Dance (who has come on for Wicks) makes an incredible goal line block to deny a certain goal from a bullet header from a pinpoint Hoy corner.

58′ Shot off! Fischer takes the ball surges inside and blasts his drive over the bar.

56′ Sub- Conway limps off, he is replaced by Hoy.

54′ GOAL! 3-0! Undy controls in the box and sweeps it home, some nice work from Cartwright and Vandermey wide on the right who crossed it in for him.

49′  Cartwright into the book, possibly for dissent rather than the initial foul.

48′ Shot on! Mann doesn’t get much purchase on his shot from the top of the box with a sea of defenders lurking and it rolls straight to Cole.

47′ GOAL! 2-0! Undy is played through on goal, he blasts a shot from outside the box which Zaikos saves, the Undy is able to run on to his own rebound though and places it home into the empty net.

47′ Shot off! Mann just wide of the post, Bidwell had pushed forward and sent in a quality ball near post which Mann just got a touch on but not quite able to direct into the corner.

46′ Second half underway, can the Strikers rally back as they did against the Zebras here in Round 1? Or is today showing that the Warrriors are starting to fire.

HALF TIME Olympia 1-0 Devonport.

The Warriors were the better side for larger parts of the half and deserve their lead. Devonport have had their moments and in the last few minutes of the half started to get some good balls into the box. Prior to that Olympia probably produced their best patches of football this season. Has been a high quality game between two top sides and the passing has been crisp. Both teams looking to play the ball out from the back and attack. Cracking contest so far and plenty  more to come.

45+3′ Goal line stop! Lucas Hill saves the day, Smith headed one back across the face in the Mann direction, he headed it goalward but Hill was on hand to make the stop.

45′ Slice of Cheese! Fischer into the book after belting the ball into Conway as he lay on the ground.

44′ Undy this time blazes over the bar following a clearing header from Millington that Sklenar came close to reaching.

44′ SAVE! Undy this time denied by a great save from Zaikos, it then went flying up in the air and looked like it might drop in the net, but landed on the roof of the net.

43′ On the by line, Undy somehow beats three defenders before trying an audacious chip that Zaikos at full stretch is able to catch. Would have been goal of the year.

42′ Offside flag is raised to deny Fischer an equaliser, he raced onto the ball and smashed it into the back of the net, but Valley Road’s celebrations are cut short

39′ Shot off! An acrobatic volley from Sklenar flies just over the bar, after a free kick bounced on the edge of the area, did well to make so much contact.

37′ Slice of Cheese for Andrew and Hess. Hess initially pushed Andrews who did not take kindly to it and once back to his feet returned the favour. Players then came from all corners to back their players up, didn’t boilover into anything too dramatic though and play continues.

34′ An Undy corner somehow stays out, it pinballed around the 6 yard box and seemed to be cleared off the line but no Warrior could connect with a decisive touch.

33′ Vandermey launches a super ranking cross field to release Undy who sends it through to Sklenar but Zaikos get to it first.

30′ Olympia have looked the better side through the opening half hour and applied the most pressure but Devonport are starting to settle and win the ball in the middle. Warriors defence well in control though with Paul Stevens doing a fine job back there.

21′ Hess with a superb long range through ball over the top to Sklenar, who nods it forward but Bidwell is on hand to work him off the ball.

18′ Shot on! Wicks burns off Vandermey and races into the box but his shot from an angle is easily held by Cole.

16′ A stoppage here as Mearns gets some treatment, seems to be ok though.

13′ Hill miscues a clearance which almost gives Holden a prime scoring chance in the box but he is quickly closed down by Undy and Hill then recovers to see it away from him.

9′ GOAL! 1-0! Sam Conway! He takes off on a bombing run down the left, threads it through to Sklenar who plays a one two with him and he places it underneath Zaikos. Sharp football that!

5′ Hess plays in a fine long range free kick that causes some chaos in the area but eventually the Strikers hurry it clear.

3′ A ball into the box finds Holden but on the turn his shot is well blocked by Stevens.

Welcome to Valley for Road for this massive clash between the Olympia and Devonport. Two top four sides meeting on a perfect day for football at Valley Road. The young Strikers have been super impressive so far but face a massive test against the highly fancied Warriors, who have started the season a little shakily and need a big scalp to prove they are among the best.
