Welcome to a cold and rainy KGV for a Friday night blockbuster between Olympia and Hobart Zebras. These sides have dominated the league this year, their combined record from games against the rest of the competition reads, 20 games, 20 wins, 107 goals for and just 18 goals against. The only blemish from either side is from the Warriors when they fell 5-1 to Zebras all the way back in round 3. It was a statement victory for Zebras, they helped smash that aura of invincibility that Olympia had built up throughout 2016 with a brilliant display against what was uncharacteristically sluggish Warriors side. They pressed them furiously and their physicality seemingly unnerved the Warriors, taking away their ability to play out from the back. On the wider expanses of KGV that might prove a tougher strategy to execute this time around, but Zebras must attack this game with that same intent they displayed back in round 3. To their credit Olympia have not missed a beat since then and reeled off 8 consecutive league wins to keep up the pressure on Zebras and if they were to turn things around and win they would go top due to their superior goal difference. Conversely should Zebras repeat their triumph they could extend the gap at the top to 6 points and put themselves in the box seat to take out the title. There is so much at stake in this one, given the respective form both these sides have shown in 2017, neither can rely on other sides taking points from their main title rival, they must do it themselves and on Friday night they get that chance.
