Hobart Zebras v Taroona

Full Time

Hobart Zebras 1

Taroona 0

Full Time: And that was the lone goal, Zebras again get the better of Taroona. Full Report to follow.

87′ Danielle Kannegiesser might just broken Taroona hearts again, scoring with a header three minutes from full time. The second half has been a tight affair with neither side really in the ascendancy for too long.

Half Time Update:

Very even game so far with both defences firmly on top of things, Taroona probably just shading the chances but neither side will feel they should be ahead. All still to play for in the second 45.

These sides have played two very tight league games this year and an even tighter Summer Cup final, with Zebras claiming all 3 games, though on balance of play Taroona have been desperately unlucky not to take anything from those contests. That’s why Zebras are champions though, they just kept finding ways to pull games out of the fire and there is no greater example of that when they beat Taroona 3-2 back in Round 2, with Danielle Kannegiesser firing in a brilliant hat-trick. This could prove a much tougher challenge this time around for Taroona as it will be their fourth game in the space of 10 days and if these Pirates are anything like the Johnny Depp movie franchise, they might just find that four is simply too many. They will have injury concerns with Holly Ayton, who will be vital to shutting down the Zebras lethal attack, in doubt after suffering a head clash midweek but they will be glad to have welcomed Zoe Horgan back into the fold. The versatile young star has been a big omission from the side along with Adelyn Ayton in recent weeks as they have lost the midfield dominance that the pairing so often provided them. She will need to be good up against the brilliant Zebras midfield that has been the basis for so many of their victories this season. They found a way to win these match up’s when Taroona were firing on full cylinders and at full strength, so against a likely undermanned Pirates team, they will be expecting to win this one and extend the streak to 25 games.
