Full Time: Olympia 9-0 Kingborough

GOALS- Craw x 4, Davies x 2, Bomford, Johnson, Michael

So the champions kick off their campaign in style with a comfortable win. They moved the ball around the pitch very nicely, playing some lovely combination plays and fully deserved their win. Kingborough were far from disgraced though and will be hoping to build from that performance. The Warriors did this to plenty of teams last year and one suspects it won’t be the last time they do it this year, they are stacked with attacking talent and it was only full display today.

Olympia have added to their lead in the second half with braces from Craw and Johnson and a single to Davies as we head towards full time. They have been in firm control of the game, dominating the midfield and putting a lot of pressure on the defence of the Lions. Kingborough will be frustrated to have not scored one themselves though, with Margot Johnston making a couple of big saves. Both goalkeepers have impressed here this afternoon in what has been a pretty open game that has seen chances a plenty.

Live Blog is going on hold temporarily because I need to go get a cable so we can bring you the live stream of this afternoons games. Will try update goals as we go.

HALF TIME: Olympia 3-0 Kingborough

The Warriors were tested early and have had a few nervy moments in defence but on the whole have been in control of this one and if not for Gardner could be further ahead.

45’+2′ Save! Johntson does ever so well to srcramble back and make a save diving backwards after she had initially been caught off her line.

44′ Crawford blasts one over the top of the bar from range after it rolled into her path just outside the box.

42′ SAVE! Margot Johntson does well to make a save and deny Tatton who had been played in behind. Sharp piece of keeping that.

39′ GOAL! 3-0! Caitlin Roberts with a lovely run and through ball that sets up Davies 1 on 1 and she makes no mistake, placing it bottom corner.

36′ GOAL! 2-0 Warriors! Lucy Johson shows some quick feet wide on the left, throws in a stepover before crossing perfectly for Craw who buries it from close range.

35′ Shot on! Johnson lashes a powerful drive but Gardner has her angles covered and palms behind for a corner.

33′ Craw doesn’t quite get the power she was after surging into the box and it makes for a regulation save for the keeper.

32′ Save! Gardner out well off her line to block a shot from Davies who had snuck in behind the right back on the far side of the box.

30′ Shot off! Roberts misses a glorious chance to make it 2-0. She found herself one on one with the keeper in the box and looked to pick out the corner but fired just wide of the post.

27′ So close to an equaliser for the Lions! Tatton is denied in a 1 v 1 after she burst behind the lines and ran to the top of the box. Johnston must have just gotten a piece of it that saw it slide just wide of the post!

24′ SAVE! Gardner gets down well to deny Michael who had shifted the ball onto her left with a sharp turn at the top of the box and rattled off a low shot for the bottom corner,.

21′ GOAL! 1-0 Olympia, Bomford with a blast from 20 yards out that sails perfectly into the roof of the net, top drawer stuff that.

20′ A good save from Olivia Gardner denies a powerful drive from Crawford at the near post, got down well to make a sharp save and hold onto it.

18′ Ryan has the ball fall to her in the box, she takes a touch and blasts it but it takes a slight deflection and just misses the far post, corner ball.

12’Michael curls in a perfect corner to the middle of the box but Crawford air swings on the attemped volley.

10′ No real chances of note here so far, the Warriors have had a couple of incursions from wide area that have ended in shots but nothing that has looked like it would see a goal scored.

1′ KICK OFF, We’re underway. Glorious sunshine pouring all over the Lightwood Park pitch which looks in terrific condition. They’ve done a great job getting up.

Welcome to the Den for this PFD Women’s Super League clash between Olympia and Kingborough. The Lions will be big underdogs on their home field against the defending champions. They will be hoping to keep it as close as possible and try to frustrate the Warriors.
