88′ OWN GOAL – Fader goes past Dewsbury and shoots at the open net. In an attempt to clear the ball, Hernyk put the ball into the next. 4-3 to City.

85′ Savill rockets a shot off the bar witch was uncontrolled by two city players an subsequently shot over.

South seemed to have slowed down since conceding. Not playing with the same energy that we saw coming out of half time.

78′ Moutsatsos on the counter shoots from outside the area, putting it wide.

76′ GOAL – Fagan shoots from distance chipping the keeper. 4-2 to City.

55′ South press and win the ball but take a rushed shot which is easily saved by the keeper.

53′ Carter and Ferrier attack for South and win a corner.

47′ Shegog wins the ball and put the cross in to Fagan. Fagan micontrols the ball and it is easily collected by the keeper.

Second half underway

Launceston City remains the stronger team. Pressing the South defence well to avoid letting them play out from the back. However, as the game drew on South became more comfortable. Fader was especially strong for South in the first half.

HALF TIME – Launceston City 2 – 0 South Hobart

45′ Fagan with a beautiful drag back and pass plays Savill through for the shot. Johnston saves and subsequently saves the follow-up shot.

43′ South win a freekick in a dangerous area. But Dewsbury cleans up the cross.

40′ Fader puts a through ball towards the edge of the box with Dewsbury comes out to clear.

39′ South get a shot away through Fader but it’s easily saved by Dewsbury.

37′ Fader wins the free for South after a break down the left.

36′ The resulting free kick is put wide.

36′ City win a freekick on the left through E. Hernyk.

35′ A dangerous attack for South results in a handball and a free kick in the City direction.

South’s insistence on playing out from the back has landed them in trouble several times due to pressing from E. Hernyk, Fagan, Savill and Shegog.

After the first 15 minutes City seem to have more control over the game, playing most of their football in South’s half. However, South have been attacking with some nice link up play.

12′ South shoot from distance but hit the woodwork and the ball goes out for a goal kick.

11′ Fagan get on the end of a City clearance and forces a good save from the South keeper. Savill follows up but sprays the ball towards the line.

10′ Fader presses for South after a goal kick but loses control and Hernyk clears for a throw in.

9′ South advance down the left with their first real attack of the game, but Steventon cleans up nicely.

1′ GOAL – Walsh receives a through ball from Fagan and calmly puts the ball into the back of the net. Early lead for City, 1-0.
