South Hobart

 Shots Off

Massive victory for South who threw everything at it in the last 20 minutes, South stood strong and will happily take the three points. Once again Harry Thannhauser was immense for the Rangers whilst Morton made the travellers tick.

Full time !! Northern Rangers 2 – South Hobart 3.

were in extra time !!

88′ Jones effort is wide , his shot from around the penatly spot sails past brown post.

87′ Pat La with some great defensive work wins rangers a goal kick.

its gonna be a big finish…

Slice of Cheese for Brown and the gloved Nick LA … Fiction writer Dan Brown pushes LA who pushes back.

77′ GOAL! Nick LA !!!! The Rangers captain with a classy outside of the foot finish.

74′ GOAL !! HAMMER TIME … Ben Hamlett at the back post punishes some poor defending slots past Whatman. NR1- SH 3

73 Slice for young William Humphries, a bit soft…

69′ Slice of cheese, Feral for south with a …feral tackle.

67′ Its nearly Hammer time, his shot is saved well by Whatman but the kiwi cant keep hold of it and its a corner.

63′ Thannhauser so  close, his header at the back-post misses the target.

Gorrie what looks like a bit of claret coming from his nose goes off for some treatment, can the Rangers capitalise…

59′ Humphries with an even bigger miss, his shot was destined for the back of the net but somehow goes wide.

56′ Hall with a big miss, he was 1 v1 with Whatman but he sprays his shot high and wide.

I will endeavour to find out who was the scorer for South, but 4 red shirts were in my way.

54′ Gorrie buys a foul , N Lanau- Atkinson tries to win the ball as it was leaving play but gets a peice of Gorrie instead.

52′ Corner for South , Morton with a long raking pass picks out hall who drives at Pat LA who does well to put the ball out of touch.

Completely different South hobart team this half, Ken has clearly sent a rocket up them. Whatman to be a busy man.

50′ offside  !! South score again but its rule out for offside !!!!

50′ Goal !! .. a goal mouth scrambles sees a south Hobart shot go in the back of the net.

48′ Hamlett again driving at the Rangers but his effort is saved by Whatman ..

47′ Hamlett tries his luck , but his effort ends up in Kmart….

46’Back under way.

South the better side so far here, but they will want to be careful as the Rangers are dangerous on the break… Morton won’t be pleased and im expecting South to come out a different side. All to play for as South realistically will tie up the 2017 PS4 NPL title with a win here today after Devonport lost at home yesterday to Hobart Olympia.

Half Time Northern Rangers 1-1 South Hobart.

45+3 Ranger players absolutely filthy with the Referee, Keeper Brown struggled to clear his lines and Kensley nearly punishes the young South Hobart Goal keeper , brown with a clear push in the back on Kwin.

45+2 Burk with the end of his toe clears for a corner … Goal saving stuff.

45+1′ Another foul south Hobart as brown is smashed again, this time by Jones.

41′ Slice of Cheese for Kensley as he absolutely pollaxes Daniel Brown.

interesting decision to bring the goalscorer off …would assume it was an injury.

35′ GOAL !!! Rangers through Mitch Jones at the back post 1 v 1 with Brown , he makes no mistakes and tucks it away in to the bottom right hand corner. Game on ! NR 1- Sh 1

Sub Off: Leszcynski Sub on: Hamlett.

34′ South nearly double their lead, Morton with a cheeky back hill tries to find Kass but Fulton Clears.

30 Goal!!!! Leszcynski scores at the back post after morton had played in him , South Hobart 1 – Northern Rangers 0

29′ A beautiful touch by a beautiful man nearly sees the Rangers in behind but “Dreamboat” Darrants effort is cut out by ludford.

Ken is urging his players to be patient and wants a bit more composure from his players in the final third.

24′ South race down the other end of the ground but Albies header inches wide.

23′ Chance for the Rangers, Canadian import Kensley heads at the back stick but can’t convert.

19′ Whatman redeems himself with a huge save, a Gorrie shot was destined for the back of the net but the Kiwi gets a big Palm on it with Pat La clearing.

18′ Whatman nearly makes the meal of a routine catch as Gorrie tries to pick out Albie but he recovers and the Rangers live to fight another day.

Could be the end of Fulton’s tackle after the Massive tackle sees him down and out.

15′ A. Fulton with a goal saving tackle on Nicholas Morton…

14 Free Kick !! 20 yards out … Rangers win the foul but Nick La waste his chance and fires at the wall.

12′ Free kick to Rangers after Cross is fouled by Hall who is adjudged to have pushed him in the back.

Rangers look heaps better when they run at people rather than try to pass through South who are extremely organised.

‘6  Albie (leZyisnjjjii) shot off but Whatman whose borrowed his little sister’s hat for the day deals with it comfortably.

‘5 Corner for South, Kass attempted a cross but P.Lanau-Atkinson intercepts….. nothing comes of it and Whatman will kick it in.

‘3 South absolutely dominating the Rangers,  Schmidt giving the Rangers all sorts of issues…

‘1 Were underway here at the home of the Northern Rangers … The NTCA is a big pitch which will suit South Hobart as they are are slick when in possession.

7 minutes from kick off here and it’s interesting to see that hamlettand Walter aren’t in the starting line up …

The League Leaders look to make it 11 consecutive wins and tighten their grip on the league title as they travel north to take on Northern Rangers. South weren’t at their brilliant best last Sunday, but it’s hard to be that every week, and when you aren’t at the top of your game and still win 4-1, that shows how good you are. What also demonstrates that is a bench that features the likes of Alex Leszczynski, Liam Scott and Oscar Thomas. Make no mistake, these are stars of the competition and at the moment, Morton has held them in reserve. The depth they have is downright terrifying and Rangers will be well aware of the threat they pose. Nevertheless, the NTCA has proved a tricky destination in the past for South, with the last 2 games at the venue ending with 2-0 and 3-1 wins South’s way and the time before that in a 3-2 win for Rangers. Whilst they will be frustrated to not have won the derby last weekend they have genuinely been a tough proposition at home this season and they did put in a strong second half showing to build off for this game. Whilst they seem reasonably cemented in fifth place at the moment, with the competition’s top four to face over the final five weeks, a League Cup spot is not set in stone just yet and with just 1 home game remaining after this, this will be an important game for them.
