Northern Rangers v South Hobart

Live Blog Coverage From Mitch Dent from 4:30pm

 Shots On
 Shots Off

Full time !!!! . South with a comfortable win from a result of their clinical finishing. Kenny Morton will be happy with the three points as they try to chase down Devonport who were victors against Olympia Warriors earlier today. Match report to come.

Sub off: Morton.  Sub on: Kass

88′ GOAL !!… Turner with a tap in at the back stick, lovely build up from South in which they punished poor marking. Game over really.

Rangers have 10 men on the field…… Jones has come off with a bloody nose. Really not ideal when you are chasing a game.

83′ Huge double save by Brown … A ranger corner was swung in but the young shot-stopper held his nerve and denies the northerners.

Sub off:  Rodriguez   Sub on: Appleyard

80′ Whatman makes himself big and makes a massive save !!! Hamlett was played in 1 v 1 but the Kiwi denied him.

75′ South with another corner… Whatman Clears… ,Thannhausers fouls Quale…., Turner heads over at the front stick. .. Its all happening

71… South escape… a lovely long ball is played in and not a single head could meet it but Brown cleared off his line at full stretch.

66′ Northern Rangers captain is taken down by Morton… free kick but nothing comes of it.

Sub off:  Danny jin   Sub on: Mitch Jones .

63′ Dreamboat Darrant with a silly foul in his attacking third which sees their move break down…

56′ handball from Cross .. its taken quickly which sees Fulton kick it out for a corner..

55′ Instagram Icon Riley Darrant from range but Brown is up to the Tasks and sees it out for a corner.

A good showing here from the Rangers.. the vocal Ranger army are in full flight tonight.

51′ Rangers with a corner but the cross has to much pepper on it and Turner clears.

5o’ different Rangers side have come out.. they are zipping the ball around and using the full surface. Danny Jin showing good pace but the ball rolls out for a goal-kick.

back under way here.

Halftime here at the NTCA where  South Hobart leads  Northern Rangers with the score at 0-1… as expected South have been dominant and Rangers were on the backfoot.. which has resulted in me not being able to quote DreamBoat Darrant.

Morton is everywhere, there isn’t a blade of grass out there that he hasn’t covered.

37′ Foul from the Rangers… silly and dangerous area to concede a set piece….  Thanhhauser clears.

35′ Corner for South … Whatman Collects.

33′ Finally a corner for the Rangers….. but the delivery isn’t great. Goal kick.

29′  GOAL TIME to South Hobart… a bit of confusion in the box which results in the clearance falling to Quale who delivers a  lovely cross results into I  … think Jack Turner.

27… BIG save by big Sam, Morton with a thumping drive but the kiwi saves in the top left-hand corner.

26′ Quale shows lovely feet and skips by Pat La… he squares to Morton but his shot is blocked by Cross.

20′ Walter skins A.Fulton convincingly, Fulton jumped in and Walter said Cya Later !! his cross lacked purpose and Burk clears …

It’s really been attack V defence here at the moment, South Hobart have Rangers pinned back in their own half. Scuilli is screaming at his boys to get out.

16′ Jack Turner with a delightful ball through to Walter but his cross is tame and Whatman Collects.

15′ Hamlett fires one from distance but his effort is well wide.

10′ South really starting to put the pressure on the Rangers, Morton played in Hamlett but the big Kiwi (Whatman) came out quickly and smothered the opportunity.

9′ The game has burst into life … Morton with a double chance just inside the six-yard box but Whatman and Thannhauser clear.

7′  Rangers get away with one, Cross doesn’t clear the ball which allows Hamlett to get in behind but he slips at the crucial moment and the ball is collected by Whatman.

Honestly really not much to report about its just south playing the ball sideways, Rangers will look to get the ball down the left-hand side to the Dangerous Nick LA who has been involved in the last four goals for the northerners.

South Hobart teamsheet:

Northern Rangers teamsheet:

Thanks for joining in today! Mitch Dent here once again blogging for the slice of cheese team today for the late afternoon match between Northern Rangers and on fire South Hobart. Naturally, Ken Morton’s men come into this as favourites, but don’t write off the Rangers just yet as they are up and about after beating Launceston City at Buckby Ranger Park through a late Harry Thannhauser finish. In doing so they took all the bragging rights for the year and claimed the Mazda Challenge Cup! South Hobart have match winners all over the ground and if the Rangers are to get anything from this match they will have to shut down the impressive Nicholas Morton who recently tore the Warriors apart. The Rangers are at full strength today and I’ll be sure to update the massive Sam Whatman fan club throughout. I hope you enjoy today’s write-up and I’ll be posting team sheets shortly!!
