Olympia v Taroona

Warrior Park, 2;00pm

 Shots On
 Shots Off

Full Time: Olympia 5-3 Taroona

An exhilarating second half of football, thoroughly enjoyable stuff with both sides looking to attack and a really free flowing game.

87′ The resulting corner is deflected and then meets the head of Ayton who nods over the bar.

86′ Shot off! Ayton looks certain to score from 3 yards out but Blackman must have gotten a block on as it flies behind for a corner.

84′ Shots off! Taroona twice come close in a minute with shots that fly just past the post first from Ayton, then Blackwood-Coyle. They are finishing strong but have left themselves with too much to do.

81′ Not for the first time today the sweeper keeper Ottavi is off her line in the nick of time to deny a 1 v 1 chance, sliding in to win the challenge.

79′ Shot off! Ayton tries again from distance but this time gets too much purchase on it.

77′ Shot on! A great spell of pressure from Olympia ends with multiple shots and crosses, Ottavi doing well to deny them.

75′ Shot off! Michael threads a perfect through ball for Bomford to run onto, she guides her effort over the keeper but just wide of the post

68′ GOAL! 5-3! Adelyn Aytonn!!!!! An absolute screamer from the middle of the pitch, catches the keeper off her line and nestles in the back of the net!

67′ GOAL! 5-2! Clara Birch volleys one home at the back post, a long range free kick from Zoe Horgan got over the back of the Warriors defence and she finishes back across the face.

65′ Pretty open game at present, flowing from end to end but no clear cut chances of late.

57′ Shot on! Ayton tries for the miracle long range chip but Johnston catches comfortably enough.

53′ Double Save! Margot Johnston has pulled off a big double stop, denying Hultons drive before Parsell racing onto the rebound looked certain to score but the recovering Johnston got up and made the stop.

48′ GOAL! 5-1! Johnson has a hat-trick, a Davies cross is headed clear to the top of the box, she takes a look, then volleys it first time into the bottom corner!

47′ GOAL! 4-1! A corner is swung to the back post, it’s headed back across the face and despite an attempted block on the line it sneaks through and the Warriors have another.

Play back underway here at Warrior Park. Adelyn Ayton has been introduced for the Pirates as has Hulton

Half Time:

Olympia recovered from the early blow to claim a 3-1 lead at half time with some wonderful football, the speed of their attackers in the final third has been impressive and they have run the Pirates defence ragged thus far.

42′ 3-1! Olivia Bomford picks out the far corner with a wonderfully finessed effort, the class of the Warriors is shining through now.

38′ GOAL! 2-1! Lucy Johnson with another, and boy is she pumped! Think she enjoyed that, rounding Ottavi and firing home from the angle after being set up by a nice ball from Michael!

Olympia have had control of this game for the most part, and are increasingly dialling up the pressure.

34′ Shot off! Tanaka has a smash from distance that floats well wide. Bomford follows suit a minute later and is much closer, but just wide.

33′ Bomford releases Johnson with a wonderful ball and her shot seeking out the far corner is inches wide.

26′ Tanaka has a shot blocked then a chip caught by Ottavi as they come close to making it 2 in a minute,

25′ GOAL! 1-1! Lucy Johnson levels it up with a clever first time finish, a delightful raking cross field ball releases her and she volleys home at the back post.

23′ Dunbabin and Ayton both make blocks on goal bound shots from close range, Olympia knocking on the door but can’t break through,

20′ A cross to the back post is headed wide of the mark, think Blackman had the last touch on it. Sea of bodies at the back post.

17′ Shot on!  Davies storms into the box on the left hand side and tries her luck from the angle but Ottavi makes a sharp save high up at her near post.

15′ Shot on! A smashed free kick from Lucy Johnson is palmed over the top by Ottavi.

7′ Wind a major factor here, making life tough for both teams, a real cross breeze though, so not a massive advantage either end.

4′ GOAL! 1-0! First shot first goal and it’s gone the way of Taroona, Marion Dunbabin with a long range floater from just outside the box! Superb strike.

1′ Kick off, We’re underway, few key players out for the Pirates so have to say the Warriors are warm favourites especially considering they won 6-1 just over a week ago.
