FULL TIME! South Hobart 3-2 Hobart Zebras

An incredible comeback from South, stirring stuff.

87′ GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!! WALTER! 3-2! Swoops on the loose ball and places it into the back of the net, staggering turn around this!

86′ GOAL!!!!!! 2-2! Kemp steps up and sends Mercuri the wrong way.

86′ PENALTY! Hey trips up Brennan and a clear penalty is awarded.

81′ Huge penalty shout! Morton pushed over by Lewis in the box, nothing doing though. Play on the call.

77′ GOAL!!!! 2-1! GAME ON! A corner led to a goalmouth scramble, Morton somehow volleys one acrobatically in a sea of bodies and puts it in the back of the net.

74′ Shot off! A long range volley from Mckeown is narrowly wide, had Brown scrambling in net.

73′ Shot on! A long range Kemp free kick is nodded goalward by Brown but straight at the keeper.

69′ Quaile with a vital sliding stop to deny a great chance for Walsh, goal saving challenge that.

58′ WOODWORK! Lewis gets the ball caught between his legs in the box, it lets Morton in who places it onto the post from close range, big chance goes begging!

53′ Shot on! Mckeown works it Walsh who fires on straight at the keeper who saves it.

48′ GOAL! 2-0! A goal from a corner, Huigsloot nods home from the Sanders corner. Classic Zebras goal.

46′ Back underway at Darcy Street, Feral has replaced Ludlow for South Hobart.

Half Time: Hobart Zebras 1-0 South Hobart

42′ Shot on! Well sort of, Turner hits on goalward that rolls gently into Mercuri’s path

34′ Shot off! Downes tries a half volley from range after a clearance from a long throw sat up for him outside the box.

33′ Shot off! Downes has time and space 30 yards out and tries to smash one on goal but its well wide.

32′ A curling ball to the back post from Downes is dealt with well by Brown who claws it away from a sea of bodies.

28′ GOAL! 1-0 Zebras! An own goal against Quaile, he tries to clear the ball away from Walsh but misdirects into the back of his own net.

26′ Slice of Cheese! Huigsloot with a late challenge to scythe down Morton.

23′ Shot on! A nice one-two with Walter and Sculthorpe leads Walter to firing straight at the keeper as he ran into the box, didn’t hit it with much conviction.

Zebras have shaded the opening moments of the game and had the best chance but neither side is really dominating by any means necessary.

12′ Shot on! Mckeown does superbly to get the better of Gorrie and gets through on goal but fires straight at Brown who stops him.

8′ Down goes Brown. Mckeown collects him with the follow through jumping for a corner and he stayed down for some time.

7′ A Downes free kick is well dealt with by Brown who punches behind for a corner.

6′ Shot off! First real chance of the game, Downes curls a ball to the back post where Mckeown gets his head to it and directs it over the top.

1′ Kick off, we’re underway in cold and wet conditions at Darcy Street although the rain has stayed away for now.

Welcome to Darcy Street for this massive Round 8 clash in the NPL TAS, always plenty at stake when these two teams meet and with the top four so close it is especially the case today. Last time around the Zebras aerial strength overwhelmed South but it was a closer game on balance than the 3-0 score line suggests. Jack Turner makes a return to South Hobart and immediately is thrust into the starting line up, we also see a start for young Pajari Sculthorpe up top. The Zebras have a set and forget starting XI and with everyone fit they are once again unchanged, although have acquired Jack Gates from the Lions and he starts today on the bench.
