Full Time: South Hobart 2-2 Kingborough.

Huge result for the Lions and big early trouble for South who could be 5 points adrift by the end of the Round.

90+3- Both teams have chances to win it. Thomas with a huge block on Desouza at one end before Brennan blazes over the top on the immediate counter.

Into stoppage time now, no idea how its still 2-2, this half has had everything but a goal!

88′ The Lions get in behind on the counter down the left but Lokoes cross is poor.

86′ Crossbar!! Schmidt charged into the box crossed for Degetto who steered it goalward but it hit the thigh of Morton and it popped up onto the crossbar, how on earth did that stay out?!

85′ South finally get one in the back of the net but Morton was ruled offside as he nipped in ahead of the keeper and directed it home!

84′ Oscar Thomas gets away with a shirt grab on Baker as the Lions broke dangerously 2 on 2. Crowd rising here, riding every moment.

82′ Walter with a powered cross that Brennan directs straight at the keeper. They are knocking on the door but cannot bust through!

80′ Save! Stalker down to deny a Morton shot across the face.

79′ Thomas wins a crucial one v one with Downes, the Lions now having a little spell of pressure.

77′ Stalker with a great diving save to deny a long range Kemp drive that was worked to him from a corner variation.

75′ Slice of Cheese! Cowen brings down Morton and goes into the book, presumably for an accumulation of fouls as he’s had a few.

Inside the final 15 here and the Lions are holding on, South are pushing hard but lacking end product.

74′ Gorrie again sets up a chance, crossing for Degetto who volleys over the top.

68′ SUB- Saracino on for Feral as South push hard for the go ahead goal. Plenty of play at the moment but can’t get the goal. SLICES OF CHEESE for the pair of them though, as they subbed before getting the all clear from the ref.

64′ Oscar Thomas again huge in defence to whisk it away from Cowen. Brown then repels a Kantzos cross trying to pick out Cowen.

63′ Baker over hits a pass as he tries to slide it through to Downes in the box who had slipped his marker.

SUB- Lokoes replaces Buga

59′ Gorrie industrious as ever down the right, beats a defender and shoots but his effort deflects safely into the keepers hands.

SUB- Degetto on for Sculthorpe

57′ Oscar Thomas strong in defence to stop Baker from getting through one on one, making a last ditch intervention.

54′ Kemp glides through the middle and absolutely belts one that rises over the bar.

South have come out breathing fire so far this half, reckon Morton might have read them the riot act at the half.

51′ Gorrie crosses expertly for Sculthorpe unmarked in the box but he belts his volley horribly wide.

50′ Off the line! A Morton header from a corner is stopped on the line by Zammitt. Two goals he has saved now.

49′ Kobe Kemp tries to drive on in at the near post but Stalker steers it away.

48′ Gorrie fizzes in a teasing free kick that deflects off Brennan’s head and behind for a goal kick.

46′ Brennan curls on that deflects behind for a corner, South not wasting time to get back on the attack.

HALF TIME South Hobart 2-2 Kingborough

Well the Lions will be happy with that, South were pretty heavy favourites for this one but they have fought well and are right in this. South have had more chances, but both goals the Lions conceded came from terrible errors at the back rather than them being broken down where as the Lions crafted both of theirs. On the balance of play you’d expect weight of chances to win out, but the Lions are looking well organised and are up to their eyeballs in this.

45′ Zammit blocks one on the line, denying Sculthorpes stooping header at the back post following a corner. That’s the value of having men on the posts to defend them!

44′ Herweynen finds space in the box and puts in a couple of ground crosses that are dealt with by the scrambling South defence.

43′ Somehow it stays out! Schuth makes two goal saving blocks before Stalker makes a sharp save to deny a third shot. Chaos in the box, but it remains 2-2.

42′ Harris is caught out of position allowing Sculthorpe goal side of him, he recovers to get a leg in and block the shot behind for a corner though.

40′ South could have and should have taken the lead. Schuth made a superb lunging sliding block to stop a Morton cross picking out Sculthorpe, but then it ended up falling to Walter who smashed it wide of the post from close range.

38′ Stalker does well to kick away a driven cross from Morton.

37′ GOAL! 2-2! Chris Downes does what he does best and curls the free kick home, he is an absolute star from the dead ball this lad!

36′  Slice of Cheese! Baker slides one through for Buga, he is brought down from behind by Gorrie. Close to a red there perhaps. Free kick right on the edge of the area.

33′ Desouza tries for the immediate response with a shot from inside his own half and it wasn’t far away! It had Wright scrambling.

32′ GOAL! 2-1! Walter crosses into the box, the keeper opts to use his feeet rather than hands and makes a mess of it, leaving Sculthorpe with a simple tap in, soft way to give up the lead.

30′ Alex Walter flashes a worm burner just past the post. South are finding space at the top of the box but haven’t been able to hit the target with their distance shots so far.

The Lions had just started to get back into the game there after a period of 15 minutes where South were all over them, they take their chance and suddenly we have a tied game

27′ GOAL! 1-1! Phil Kantzos! He nods home after a brilliant cross from Danny Cowen picked him out, a lovely finish and the Lions are back on terms.

23′ Sculthorpe again tries from range and again its over the bar.

21′ Sculthorpe smashes a rocket over the crossbar after Brennan fed him just outside of the box.

18′ Danny Cowen puts in a brilliant cross but Buga can’t connect with an acrobatic effort.

14′ GOAL! 1-0 South! The Lions turn it over at the back and Walter charges into the box, slides it across to Morton who taps in from close range.

13′ Morton with space at the top of the box tries to pick out the top window but its well over the top.

11′ Thomas has a shot well stopped by Stalker before Morton spoons the rebound over the bar, probably should have done better there.

10′ Morton hits one from range that seemed a simple gather for Stalker but he allows it to slide through his fingers and its just wide of the post. Wet weather making it tough for keepers.

9′ Morton seems like he is in behind but a heavy touch allows Stalker to slide out and collect.

8′ Kobe Kemp ghosts into the box unmarked and almost gets on the end of a  Sculthorpe cross floated into the box but its just over his head.

4′ Graham Wright has to be sharp off his line to keep out Baker who had been released in behind. Solid start from the Lions, who have had a couple of dangerous moments. Even first few minutes here so far though with South winning a couple of corners.

1′ Kick off, both teams will want the 3 points here after being denied in Round 1.

Welcome to Darcy Street for this round 2 clash between South Hobart and the Kingborough Lions. Some car troubles for Nick Taylor, so Andrew Cooling tapping in to blog this one for you. Rainy skies above and it looks like we are in for a wet one. You’d imagine South Hobart bounce back at home against the Lions. This is not a side that loses two games in a row, in fact its only happened once since the launch of the Victory League. Kingborough will be pleased with their first up effort, running the big spending Launceston City close before suffering late heart break with their 88th minute winner. Against the defending Champions with a point to prove its going to be very tough though and after shipping 20 goals in 3 games against them last year, it would be quite the turn around.
