Full Time: South Hobart 7-1 Launceston City

90+1′ Mies stride for stride with Gorrie into the box but the defender does well to put him off the shot and nothing comes from it.

88′ Slice of Cheese! Two more doses of dairy. Kelly for belting the ball into the scoreboard and Compaigne, for protesting I think.

72′ Shot off! Williams chips one into the box which Hancox heads wide.

65′ Woodwork! Some superb interplay down the right ends with a pin point Gorrie cross which Walter heads onto the post.

Sub- Mies replaces Kamano for City.

62- Sub- Jacob Brennan on for Cook

62′ Shot off! City burst forward with a 4 on 3 at the back but the ball gets caught at Williams feet which stalls the break. Eventually it gets worked to Hancox but the South defence get numbers back and they shut down the chance.

53′ GOAL! 6-0! Morton surges into the box, lays it on platter for Walter who is denied at close range by Smith who makes a great reflex save but Walter is able to walk the rebound over the line. Where is the City defence?

46′ GOAL! 5-0! Walter with some nice work wide on the right, plays it in towards Cook, the ball deflects to Morton, who beats Linger to it and pokes home.

46′ Back under way, can City make the numerical advantage pay?

Half Time

36′ GOAL! 4-0! Morton slides inside from the left hand side of the box before unleashing a stunning shot that goes into the far side, side netting. Stunner!

35′ GOAL! 3-0! A heavy touch from Compagne falls into the path of Walter, who runs onto it and smashes it along the ground and into the back of the net from 20 yards out.

33′ Bartlett with a pop from range that deflects behind for a corner.

31′ Shot on! Smith makes a stop from a Kemp drive from outside the box, he leaves it on the door step for Cook who runs in and smashes it into the side netting from close range.

17′ GOAL! 1-0 South Hobart! Caleb Ludlow crashes the box and smashes home a Hamlett cross with power into the back of the net.

15′ Shot on! Smith shows a safe pair of hands to deny a Cook curling effort from the angle as he ran into the box having been teed up by Morton, who is looking on his game today.

9′ Shot off! Deflected wide by Morton from close range after Ludford smashed a volley from the top of the box.

7′ Morton lashes a drive from long range that takes a deflection over the bar for corner number 3.

2′ Shot on! Hamlett picks up the ball and storms into the box but he is denied by a great save from Smith. The ball is then crossed back in to Morton near post who flicks it wide. Almost 1-0 South there twice.

South Hobart will be looking to bounce back from being shut out last weekend and will fancy themselves against a Launceston City side that they smashed 23 goals past in 3 meetings between the sides last year. City are currently in last place on the table, with sticking the ball in the back of the net proving an all to familiar problem for them. They have played some nice football at stages this season but converting chances has not been a strength of theirs. Against South Hobart at Darcy Street they are unlikely to generate a host of chances, so will need to find that cutting edge that has been lacking so far in 2017. Someone who certainly isn’t lacking for that is Ben Hamlett who made a welcome return to fill the striking void in the Lakoseljac Cup and promptly scored a lazy ten goals against Launceston United! City will need to pay him close attention or he might just put another Launceston side to the sword in the space of a week.South Hobart will be warm favourites for this with their record against the bottom four sides since the start of last season now sitting at 15-1-0.
