Pirates Look To Steady The Ship

After Launceston City played the role of the British navy by taking a broadside to the Pirate’s ship and demolishing them last weekend, Taroona will be hoping a return to Kelvedon Park will help them bounce back as they prepare to host the Lions. The two sides met in the Summer Cup and Taroona ran riot that day so you would expect them to enter this game as comfortable favourites but Kingborough have shown significant improvement since then. Laura Davis scored a wonderful brace last weekend and if she is given a sniff anywhere around the box she will punish them. Along with Tatton and Dadswell they have got some class in attack to trouble a Taroona defence that struggled last week. Whether they can stop Taroona at the other end is the big question though. Lily Hulton has been a revelation up front and with the likes of Bremner and Parsell out wide they have got no shortage of weapons. They will be without star midfielder Adelyn Ayton however after she channeled Donkey from Shrek and just had a bit too much to say last week and ended up with a slice of tomato for her troubles. In her absence it will up to Zoe Horgan to carry the midfield play making duties, a role she is more than qualified to fill. The Lions will need to lock down on her if they are any chance of causing a boil over in this one.
