University v Kingborough

Olinda Grove, 2:00pm, Sunday

University 0

Kingborough 0

It’s been a good week for Kingborough who have crushed Clarence 4-1 and drawn 0-0 with Taroona as the young side continues to grow and improve. They seem pretty locked into sixth position but this represents a great chance for them to pick up another win as they look to build for the future and seven points in a week would have a pretty nice ring to it for Lions fans. University meanwhile are locked in a battle with Clarence to avoid the wooden spoon and having played out two close games with Kingborough this season this must be seen as a prime chance to pick up points on their home track. They are set to meet Clarence on the final day, but with the Reds facing uphill tasks against Ulverstone away and Olympia in the next two weeks, they could shut the door on them with three points here. If they are to pull it off they will need to find a way to do what Clarence could not last week, and that is keep the dangerous Laura Davis quiet. Two goals and a secondary assist for the electric young striker showed her quality last week and she likewise gave Taroona all manner of problems with her pace on Wednesday. A similar performance here could win the game for her side and underline just how far the Lions have come in the past 12 months.
