Ulverstone Extend Super League Lead

Ulverstone SC continue to roll on, this time downing the Kingborough Lions 6-3 in their Round 7 Super League clash. In a dress rehearsal for next weekend’s Statewide Cup Semi Final between the same teams at the same ground it was Ulverstone who showed they will be favoured to progress to the final with another commanding performance.

The win sees Ulverstone locked into top spot after the first full round of fixtures. 1/3 of the way through the year, they have 21 points from a possible 21 and sit atop by 6 points from Launceston City.

Again it was a strong second half performance that powered them to the victory. The game seemed up for the taking at half time with Ulverstone leading 2-1, thanks to goals from Lucy Foote and Jazmin Gorrie, whilst Laura Davis had scored her 10th of the season to keep the Lions in touch and when they jumped out of the blocks in the second half an upset looked on the cards.

Emille Tatton and Laura Davis struck shortly after the restart and suddenly it was the Lions with a shock 3-2 lead on the road.

Ulverstone have shown an ability to score in bursts this season and no lead looks safe against them. So it proved once again as the red tidal wave washed over the Lions and they overwhelmed the defence.

Ebony Sims restored parity and then restored the lead as she scored a brace to tilt it 4-3 in favour of Ulverstone.

Jazmin Gorrie then had her say, adding a second before Georgia Foote made it goals in consecutive games and sealed the 6-3 victory.
