A spot in the Summer Cup Final awaits the victor of tonight’s final group stage game of the Women’s Summer Cup as the Lions host the Zebras for the right to take on Olympia in Saturday’s decider. The game will kick off at 6:30pm at Lightwood Park, having been moved from Saturday due to the extreme temperatures.

Both sides have the maximum 6 points through two match-day’s by taking the full points from Ulverstone and Clarence. As the penalty shootout bonus point rule is in effect for the Summer Cup, goal difference is irrelevant. If we are tied after 90 minutes then a shootout will determine who advances, making this a virtual semi final.

The two sides split their Super League meetings in 2018, with Zebras claiming 7-2 and 2-0 wins either side of a 4-3 Lions victory. Both sides have showcased a number of new faces so far over the preseason and Zebras are set to unveil a couple more, with Selina Steventon and Keilin Fagan set to join from Launceston City.

Olympia secured their place in the decider with a third consecutive big win, downing Taroona 11-0 to continue their waltz through the group stage. They will face a sterner test in the final, but have so far looked the most dangerous team in the competition and are emerging as potential WSL favourites.
