The Kingborough Lions continued their winning ways in the NPL TAS with a convincing 2-0 win over the Olympia Warriors at Lightwood Park.

It was wet and windy, a typical kind of day at ‘The Den’, and the Lions were looking to capitalise on their home ground advantage. Ben Hamlett was the first on the score sheet, receiving the ball after Simon Vivarelli and Shane Cartwright’s one-two play. Hamlett charged down the right flank and hit with sheer power into the top corner for the opener at the 25 minute mark. The Lions added to their tally when Shane Cartwright made it two, tapping in at the far left post.

This one lacked the regular intensity and action given both clubs had nothing to play for other than pride. However Kingborough had an added motivation to get the job done with the passing of one of their own. Dedicated ball-boy and match manager Adam Kinnon lost his father earlier this week, and the Lions dedicated their win to Adam and his family.

Kingborough will now have all the eyes on them next week as they are in a crunch clash with Devonport who will win the title if they are successful. Olympia will dust themselves off for a final away day at Darcy Street against South Hobart.
