Peart Set For A-League Debut

After a stellar first season in the newly created role as the head of Referees in Tasmania, Tony Peart has been rewarded with an appointment to the A-League refereeing panel for the 2018-2019 season.

He made it onto the panel after strong performances in both the local NPL TAS competition as well as in the FFA Cup.

Peart will make his debut as a linesman in this Sunday’s Melbourne Victory v Perth clash, a game featuring star marquee Japanese recruit Keisuke Honda.

The hotly anticipated clash is not going to phase Peart though, who has officiated at Championship level in England before moving to Tasmania to take up the referee development role.

His appointment marks the first time a Tasmanian based referee has made it onto the A-League panel and shows the example that Peart is setting for the referees he has been brought in to help develop.

He hopes that his elevation to the National panel will demonstrate a pathway for his referees to follow and lead to more Tasmanian’s refereeing in the A-League in future.

Peart has turned heads for the job he has done overhauling the refereeing body in Tasmania, acting as a leading driver of recruitment and seeing the biggest jump in refereeing numbers in Football Federation Tasmania’s history.
