FULL TIME: Olympia 2-1 South Hobart

90+5′ Mcdonald is secure under the high ball and he will eat up the final moments of the game here.

90+2′ GOAL! 2-1! South pull one back late with a distance shot from DeSouza, an absolute bullet. Hope for South.

89′ Olympia again under pressure at the back but they repel away and appear set for the victory here.

85′ Mcdonald works a cross away to Stevens who clears after Morton did some nice work out wide on the right to put in a dangerous cross. Morton really coming into the game late here.

81′ Shot off! Gorrie with a teasing effort across the face of goal on the volley that flashes wide. South finishing the stronger, but still trail by two.

The Warriors crowd bringing out the bronx cheers here and looking to wind Morton up. In fine voice are the Warriors faithful.

80′ Shot off! Bowman lines up the shot from distance, plenty of power, but no real direction.

79’Shot off!  Morton receives from Turner, turns and curls one over the bar.

76′ Stevens comes across and charges down a Degetto effort. Moments later he goes into the book.

74′ Slice of Cheese for Ryan for a stray elbow.

SUB- Leszczysnki replaced by Degetto

64′ Ryan bares down on Herweynen and works him off the ball, centres for Sammut whose chest touch is just heavy enough to allow for Brown to close him down and make the save.

62′ Shot off! Sammut wins it high up the field and slides it through to Ryan who skews it wide.

61′ Slice of Cheese! Mcdonald with a slice for time wasting

60- SUB- Mearns is done for the night, Sammut his replacement.

59′ GOAL! 2-0 Warriors! Ladic with some nice work and tees up Jack Ryan who fires home from the angle, squirming it underneath of Brown.

58′ A block from Bowman denies the Warriors

57′ De Souza mistimes an ambitious shot from distance, and it rolls to Mcdonald.

55′ Leszczynski has a shy from range, taking a snap shot from distance but sending it right down the throat of Mcdonald in the Warriors net.

46′ Back underway at Warrior Park for the second half. Walter has been replaced by Feral after copping a head knock late in the half.

HALF TIME

45+3′ Another great chance for Gorrie, who can’t quite direct his effort on target after Leszczynski had teed him up.

45+2′ Gorrie sneaks in behind the lines, he is playing a more advanced role tonight, but Vandermey recovers well and puts the block on to deflect his effort up into the air.

40′ Gilly De Souza in some distress after getting tunneled by Ryan in an aerial duel and landing on his neck. After some treatment he will be right to continue.

37′ GOAL! 1-0! Jono Ladic what a hit, a sublime volley from the top of the box and picks out the top corner.

34′ Ryan takes on a sharp volleyed chance first time after a ball over the top from Scott, but he hits it too tamely

31′ South’s best chance of the game goes begging as Walter over-hits a cross on a promising breakaway.

28′ Jack Turner burns past a defender and then volleys well over the bar.

20’Olympia really making a promising start here, they are bossing the contest and doing nearly all the attacking, pumping balls into the area.

12′ The offside flag is raised to deny Ryan a 1 v 1 chance, he has been a big threat so far.

9′ SAVE! Another prime chance for the Warriors, Ryan’s header from a mistimed Water clearance, is well denied by Brown.

7′ SAVE! Thats Huge! A corner leads to a chance for N’Koso who blasts a header at close range, straight at Brown who makes himself big and pulls off a top drawer save.

5’Shot on! Ryan with a clever touch to find space in the box and he gets a shot away, but its scuffed and an easy save. Warriors doing plenty of attacking early doors.

1′ Underway in season 2019! It’s warm conditions for the players tonight, with the temperature still sitting at 25 degrees at present.

Welcome to Warrior Park for this season opening game between Olympia and South Hobart. Plenty of expectation surrounding both these sides, with both expected to push for the title. No shortage of examination in my three part season preview, if you haven’t checked it out, yet, please do.

It has been a long time between drinks for the Warriors in terms of defeating South, not since early in 2015 under Glen Mcneil have they managed to beat Morton’s men. Since then Shaw, Itchins and Weston have all come and gone and couldn’t manage it, with the streak now at 12 games since Olympia last win over their rivals, the question is can Rob Clarke?

Squads:

South Hobart: Brown, Bowman, Phillipsen, Ludford, Herweynen, Gorrie, Morton, De Souza, Turner, Walter, Leszczynski SUBS: Wright, Degetto, Thomas, Tooze, Feral
