Full Time Taroona 4-1 University

A quick double strike at the start of the second half secures a comfortable win for Taroona. They were in control for the most part and deserve the win.

89′ SAVE! Top drawer from Van Beek, at full extension denies Birch from close range after a lovely flowing move from the Pirates.

88′ Shot off! George comes very close with a curling effort from the top of the box but it bends wide of the post.

SUB- Leon comes on for Lockey.

84′ Mation Dunbabin now comes close, chipping one that grazes the crossbar.

81′ Maeve Dunbabin comes close with a near post header, came at great pace and she nods just over the top.

SUB- Lucas off for Dunbabin for Taroona. Uni bring on Gardiner for Muir and push Burley up the ground.

69′ A good ball from Muir springs Young in behind but some good defence from Dick, recovering and dispossessing her saves the day.

65′ SUB- Dunbabin replaces Hulton for Taroona, Roach on for Riddel for Uni.

59′ Hulton smashes one over the box. The game completely back on Taroona’s terms now, they’ve well and truly recovered from their wobble late in the first half. Bremner is featuring heavily at the moment, playing some nice crosses into the box.

56′ SUB- Persia Blackwood Coyle comes on for Cane.

54′ Shot on! Van Beek with a good stop to deny Cropp’s shot from outside the area.

53′ GOAL! 4-1! Bremner with a brilliant cross to the back post which a lurking Dunbabin volleys home from close range.

48′ Cropp looking for the hat-trick volleys one that deflects behind. Taroona looking to reassert themselves on the game.

47′ GOAL! 3-1! Quick start for Taroona and a bit of a soft one in truth. Cane with a tidy piece of skill bought room in the box and fired one that squirmed under Van Beek. Not sure if it crossed the line initially or whether Dunbabin will get credit for the tap in on the line. Could even be an own goal, was a scramble on the line.

46′ Play back underway as the sun beams down upon Kelvedon Park.

Half Time: Taroona 2-1 University– The break probably coming at a bad time for Uni, they had a super last couple of minutes and nearly squared things up. They’d been played off the park for 43 minutes and just like that we nearly had a level game at the half.

45+1′ Uni are ending the half with a surge, Young and George combine up top and come close to scoring but it’s hooked off the line.

45′! GOAL!!!!! Olivia Young with an absolute screamer! Taking it on the left, just outside the area, she cuts in and curls one to the far post that picks out the top window!

44′ Woodwork! Horgan wins the ball in defence, carries it forward then splits the defence with a perfect long range pass that teest up Cane. She works into the box and tries to beat Van Beek at near post but hits the post!

42′ George making things happen in the final third, beating a defender but Muir can’t control the lofted pass and the moment passes.

38′ Horgan and Dunbabin are doing a nice job in midfield threading through balls to their wingers. At least 4 times that Cane has been played in behind by a nice pass.

35′ Shot off! Cropp looking in the mood, this time she drives from range over the bar.

27′ GOAL! 2-0! Eli Cropp again! She has two against her former side, poking home along the ground into the far corner leaving the keeper no chance.

25′ A superb raking through ball from Bremner picks out Dunbabin in the box but her first touch sets up a header and she nods straight at the keeper.

22′ We’ve gone from rain and black skies to sunshine in the space of 5 minutes here. Suddenly it’s a lovely day for it! Taroona firmly in the ascendancy so far.

20′ Shot on! Van Beek with a strong glove to keep out Cropp for a second time after Hulton had hustled Burley off the ball.

16′ GOAL! 1-0! Taroona! The pirates draw first blood, Dunbabin with a pinpoint ground cross for Eli Cropp to slot home close range against her former side.

15′ Good to see Mich Tadros back in the Uni lineup today, was a star for them in 2016. She has done a lot of good work early breaking up the play.

10′ A cross to the back post from Horgan almost sneaks in. Taroona dominating the territory early.

5′ Anna Riddel makes an important goal line block to deny a chance at the back post.

2’SAVE! An early chance for Taroona as Hulton charges into the box but Van Beek is sharp off her line and closes it down, making a fine stop.

1′ Kick off, the match begins under rainy skies. It’s a wet and windy day for Football here at Kelvedon Park.
