The 2019 preseason is set to get underway with the Women’s Summer Cup group stage kicking off tomorrow.

The competition will see eight sides competing, split into two groups of four, with the two group winners to meet in the Summer Cup Final on March 9th. The action gets underway with the first game of the group stage to be played at KGV on Saturday, with a massive quadruple header making for eight hours of football!

Group B will see defending Statewide Cup champions, Taroona taking on South Hobart in the days opening game at 10:00am before Beachside take on the Olympia Warriors at 12:00pm. The young Warriors side have returned to the WSL this season and may well be the favourites to get out of the group, with Taroona having lost a number of key players from last season.

Group A will see the two most dominant sides of the past 2 seasons battling it out with Hobart Zebras and Ulverstone looming as the favourites to advance. The undisputed powerhouse of 2018, Ulverstone take on the only side who beat them last year, the Kingborough Lions, who bundled them out of the Statewide Cup, in the mid afternoon slot at 3:00pm. The day ends with a new look Hobart Zebras side, opening up their campaign against a Clarence United side led by their former captain Mady O’Brien.

*Ulverstone have unfortunately forfeited their game against Kingborough, leaving 3 games.
